[CC] 00:34:13 Well, preschools have become a prime topic not only in educational circles but also in political and scientific forms. David Kirp, the U.C. Berkeley professor has written about the subject in "the sand box investment." in your book you take readers across the country. You introduce us to local and national leaders trying to develop and run preschools. Tell us more about your book, The Sand Box Investment. I spent a year chris crossing the country. I spent a lot of time in preschool classrooms watching the teachers perform small miracles. I spent time talking to the experts, politicians, scientists who provide background and be backbone for that movement. You mentioned the idea. The politics behind all of that. One of the biggest phrases in politics is let's do it for the children. That really sort of greased the wheels for a lot of spending. Is there money that perhaps is misspent? What makes preschool really interesting is that $3 billion in new money has been spent by taxpayers in the last couple of years. That's amazing. That's the biggest social investment the country has made since the 1960 z. It has to do with this incredible body of research and this belief that let's do something for e kids ought to be more that rhetoric. Politicians need to do more than baby kissing in election time. You emphasized for preschool to work it depends on the quality of the teachers. How do you find these quality preschools. 00:38:47
