[CC] 00:57:51 Today the latest new gadget in the world of smart phones goes on sale. Take a look at the brand new Palm Pre. Can it beat the iPhone? Joining us now in the studio is the Senior Writer for CNET.com. So does Apple have some serious competition here, Maggie? You know, there are people who are big fans of Apple. I don't know if I would say the Palm Pre is going to overtake the iPhone any time soon but I'm very impressed. It's a very cool phone. I've been playing around with it quite a lot this week and I like it. All right. What's this all about? I'll hold up both of them here on camera. You can have Adam take a picture if you want to up close. This one is the Palm Pre. This is the iPhone. Okay? So this is the new one. What do you like about this? This coolest thing about this phone is the software. It allows for multitasking so if you can kind of, I don't know if you want to have your camera see but you can kind of scroll through. Okay. I'll do that up here. Youan scroll through the different windows that you have open. They're kind of like a deck of cards so you can be on your facebook page, looking at your E-Mail, possibly looking at, you know, a different website, a couple different websites. It's something you can't do on the iPhone. Price? The price is $199 with a $100 rebate. That's with a two-year contract. Okay. All right, Maggie Reardon, we'll have you on later this morning. 01:00:51

[CC] 00:54:54 Today the latest new gadget in the world of smart phones goes on sale. Take look at the brand new Palm Pre and can it beat the iPhone? That's that's the question. Joining us in studio Maggie Reardon for CNET.com. Good morning. Does Apple have some serious competition here? I think they do. The software on the phone is excellent. And I am tempted to switch. Really? Any drawbacks, OK anything that complicates things for you? The one drawback is battery life. Half of the battery life is gone in the last couple of hours using it. That could be a problem... 00:58:41
