[CC] 00:04:05 Parents, educators, students gather on the lawn of the State Capitol today all in the name of education. They are protesting a funding cut proposal which many put the schools out of business. CBS 5 reports they protested with passion. These kids are among the 20,000 plus students who attend various Distance Learning schools across the state. These are truly public schools. Public school kids and every dollar is going to serve these students. Distance learning is just that, for various reasons students study at home using the internet and virtual classrooms. You have to go with the rest of the class. When you do it online, you can go at your own speed. We run through the lessons each day like in school, they take their tests at home and they progress just as they would at school, it is in a different environment. Parents and students alike want their voices heard. Even if they have to sing their message. They want the state legislature to say no to a proposed $30 million school funding cut which could mean the end to the alternative school. Should we be deprived our education because we're on computers? 00:07:05 |
